- Abstract
- An ecological and geochemical investigation of the five water bodies in Novosibirsk was carried out. These objects were of interest as potential recreational areas. Assessment of heavy metal pollution of surface waters, sediments and indicator biological object (filamentous green algae) was conducted using the complex geochemical criteria. The most bioavailable forms of heavy metals (aqua-ions (Me2+) and neutral carbonate complexes) in inorganic subsystem of surface waters were determined using the software package WATERQ4F. It was found that water bodies studied were contaminated by heavy metals in varying degrees.
