- Abstract
- Problems of waste management system are examined and ways of their solutions are proposed. It is noted that especially difficult situation with waste management develops in High North regions which are characterized by the extensive underdeveloped territory, significant growth in production and consumer wastes generation (but at the same time quantities of the generated waste are insufficient for their large-capacity utilization), lack of infrastructure for utilization and recycling of production and consumer wastes. The main approaches to identification of waste management Best Available Techniques (BAT) on the basis of domestic and foreign experience are examined. Ecological, technological and economic criteria of BAT identification are defined. The BAT appraisal of the existing technologies of sorting, prilling, pressing, thermal utilization and waste processing is carried out. Recommendations on BAT usage in the remote High North municipalities are made.
