- Abstract
- This article deal with the fundamental principles of wetting and impregnation of fiber reinforcing fillers by liquid polymer binders under flow dynamic conditions. It has been found that wetting and impregnation are substantially dependent on the fluid flow rate, the static and dynamic wetting angle, and the surface tension of the liquid. Models and equations are proposed for computation the dynamic wetting angle with considering the Deryagin criterion and the impregnation optimal speed for obtaining products of polymer composite materials with a minimum porosity. Nomogram and examples of technologies for obtaining large-sized products for various purposes, based on the impregnation of fiber reinforcing systems by liquid polymer binders in dynamic molding technological modes also are given.
