- Abstract
- The atmospheric air that is used as an oxidizer at thermal power plants (TPP) contains nearly 78 % molecular nitrogen. The use of oxygen enriched air as an oxidizer reduces the amount of nitrogen oxides in flue gas. Also, it makes the ground for the recycling of carbon dioxide but the production of electricity costs more on such TPP. This paper shows that, with the current state of technologies for industrial TPP, it is optimal to enrich the air up to 50 % oxygen.
