- Abstract
- The possibility of obtaining a transparent material base on aluminum-magnesium spinel (MgAl2O4) doped by 0.005- 0.1 wt. % cerium oxide (CeO2) by the spark plasma sintering process was investigated. A translucent ceramic material with in-line transmittance in visible region 32-38 % was obtained at 1400 °C under 72 MPa. The effect of cerium oxide on the optical and mechanical properties of transparent ceramics is discussed.
