- Abstract
- Current state of affairs in the development of niobium alloys and composite materials based on their silicides is given. The main modifications of niobium pentasilicide are considered, the structural features of which determine the diffusion rate of interstitial impurities. The problem of oxidative stability of niobium-based materials is considered. Ways of increasing of resistance to oxidation by using alloying elements as additives to the solid solution of niobium are specified. The main methods of improving of high-temperature properties in the development of multicomponent alloys based on niobium by alloying of solid solution using powder metallurgy, which, in comparison with conventional casting technologies, provide a number of advantages, are shown: control of the microstructural features of Nb-based composite materials (CMs); the possibility of carrying out the sintering process of CMs at a lower temperature compared to the melting temperatures of Nb and such alloying elements as Mo, W, etc.; the combination of metals and non-metals with various intermetallics and other compounds: oxides, carbides, silicides, nitrides, borides, aluminides, phosphides, etc.
