- Abstract
- The results of acoustic emission (AE) control of an aircraft spar made of carbon fiber are presented. The capabilities of the AE method were shown in solving the problem of locating defects in composite aircraft structures in real time. Methodological issues of processing AE-information recorded during testing are considered. The analysis of changes in the main informative parameters of the AE signals and their relationship with the destruction of the structure of carbon fiber is given. It is shown that with AE control, the onset of the fracture process of the spar structure material is determined earlier, at loads lower by 10-15 % compared to the loads at which the fracture is recorded using strain measurement.
