- Abstract
- The article focuses on the process of design documentation development in an enterprises common information space. Statistical data on design and engineering documentation of rocket and space equipment development are gathered and analyzed. Also, different design approaches are reviewed, namely an evolutionary approach and concurrent design technology. A mathematical model simulating design workflow over time is worked out in order to shorten period of design and engineering documentation development done in one go. Based on a real-life example of already existing product, design and engineering activities are analyzed as well as various reasons of slowing-down of design documentation release are found out. Moreover, recommendations are given on how to apply a concurrent design technology in order to minimize reworks of the engineering documentation in the process of design. A spiral technique of design process control and forecasting based on the developed mathematical model is offered.
