- Abstract
- This article describes the results of experimental researches on the creation of an effective embedded system of diagnostics composite structures based on single-mode quartz optical fibers (OF) with an acrylate protective coating (PC) with formed fiber Bragg gratings (FBG). As the researched physical parameters of the embedded optical diagnostic system, we considered FBGs deposited on the bare areas of the OF by the UV recording method without the restoration of the protective coating, with the coating restored by the UV-curing method, with the restored thermally cured coating. It is shown that in order to create an effective system of diagnostics composite structures, it is expedient to use OF with restored PC in the local area of the FBGs location. The method of restoring the PC does not have a significant effect on the mechanical and optical properties of optical fibers with FBGs, while the use of optical fibers without restoring the PC leads to mechanical damage to the fibers in the local region of the FBG location or to an inhomogeneous change in the FBG spectra in the structure material, which reduces the quality and reliability of diagnosis.
