- Abstract
- Power production has led the World to face environmental challenges. Response actions basically imply either power consumption reduction, causing living standards degradation in developed countries and the degradation of economy in developing countries, or require a transition to environment friendly energy sources. Solar and wind power, due to the instability of the energy sources and other natural limitations, will not be able to solve the problem of providing humanity with clean energy on their own. Nuclear power based on fast neutron reactors and a closed nuclear fuel cycle can ensure not only the energy and environmental security of Russia, but also become the basis of world energy.
