- Abstract
- The cities of the central part of the Kola Peninsula, Apatity, Kirovsk and Monchegorsk, are distinguished by their industrial specialization, which leads to environmental pollution. Conducting studies to assess the geoecological situation in winter using natural indicators such as snow cover, sphagnum moss (Sphagnum fuscum, Sphagnum balticum), pine needles (Pinus sylvestris L.) and spruce (Picea obovata Ledeb.) allowed us to identify the main sources of pollution and priority pollutants, as well as spatial areas of pollution in different functional zones of cities. According to geochemical analyses of snow cover samples, brioindication and biotesting results, the geoecological situation in Apatity and Kirovsk is "stressed", and in Monchegorsk it is "critical".
