- Abstract
- This article examines an image registration method based on known contours for layer-by-layer monitoring in additive manufacturing, specifically focusing on the printing of sand molds using binder jetting technology. The method is designed to align camera images with digital templates under conditions of limited data volume, optical distortion, and the inability to use calibration patterns on a regular basis. Using real-world data, the study evaluates contour-based calibration, classical calibration using a chessboard pattern, and a hybrid mode, while also assessing geometric deviation detection using synthetic data. The results demonstrate that contour-based optimization improves alignment quality, with the best performance on real-world data achieved using the hybrid mode.
