- Abstract
- This article addresses the generation of control actions for a miniature electromagnetic actuator of a refreshable Braille dot. A bipolar pulse control method is proposed, in which dot raising and lowering are implemented by short pulses of opposite polarity. The article describes the tactile cell design with a cam mechanism, the selected hardware base, and the interaction of the ESP32 microcontroller, 74HC595 shift registers and TBD62083AFG/TD62783AFG driver arrays. Analytical calculations and Multisim simulation of an equivalent power stage are carried out. The results show that the coil resistance and the voltage drop across the power switches significantly influence the actuator current. CAD and mock-up results are presented. It is concluded that bipolar control improves switching reliability and reduces the return time of the mechanism.
