- Abstract
- A pultruded composite rod is considered in the paper. The rod has a laminated structure which includes plies with longitudinal reinforcing and angle-ply layers. An applied engineering theory of the rod stress-strain analysis is suggested. The rod is subjected to combined loading (bending, tension/compression and torsion). As an example, a cantilever beam problem is considered. The beam has circular-shaped cross section and is subjected to the eccentrically applied transversal force at the unsupported edge. Equations for ply stresses and interlaminar stresses have been obtained in the problem solution. The example shows that the suggested applied theory provides rather simple approach to analyze a stress-strain state of circular-shaped quasi-orthotropic rods.
