- Abstract
- Mechanical properties of continuous basalt rovings and polymeric composites based on them were investigated as well as resistance to aggressive media. The results show that the strength level of basalt fibers close to E-glass fibers with the elasticity modulus close to S-glass. Mechanical properties of epoxy balastoplastics are close to S-glass and greater than E-glass fiber reinforced plastics. In aggressive media basalt fiber based composites demonstrate higher resistance and mechanical properties compared to glass fiber due to specific adhesive properties and better fiber properties realization
